Brand Yourself Fearless

There are times in our life when we need to take a deep breath and just plunge into new areas because we hit a plateau. In our business this can mean a safe zone from which we are functioning but not necessarily growing or flourishing; this can bring with it some feelings of anxiousness and fear.TimeFinders May newsletter

So how can we go forward with no fear?

  1. Face your fear and ask yourself "What is the worse that can happen?" Chances are the answer isn't as bad as we think.
  2. Introduce yourself to successful and dynamic mentors in your field.
  3. Leave networking groups that no longer motivate you or your business. Signs include:
    • You talk to the same people at every meeting and never mention business
    • Speakers aren't meeting your current business needs
    • At the last meeting you didn't welcome or introduce yourself to the new member standing alone
    • You don't dress for the meetings anymore but pop in wearing casual clothes
  4. Take your advertising to a new level. This in one of the more expensive areas of running a business but sinking money into the same old ads is costing you more in the long run.
    • Rethink your advertising choices. Make it more specific by researching where your clients/customers shop, exercise, drink coffee, what magazines they are reading and websites they visit.
    • Get a new logo & rewrite old copy with a fresh approach. Avoid the standard catch phrases & words that everyone else is using.
  5. Make those difficult business decisions.
    • Assess products or services, if something isn't making you money get rid of it.
    • If someone you hired isn't growing with you and doesn't represent your evolving business let them go. Provide proper notice and an honest, brief assessment of their performance, but don't justify yourself.
