Investing in Yourself Is Priceless!
ROI = Infinity
by Deanne Kelleher
Part One
The symbol, infinity, has been around for more than two thousand years. The Romans used it to represent 1000, a BIG number to them. About 1650 the English mathematician, John Wallis proposed that the symbol stand for INFINITY, and that stuck (1).
This pertains to your time in not only a dollar value but in a realistic value in regards to your goals.
Take for example a goal to write a book. You must start by having the time to create the book. To achieve any goal you must create the time. Once you create the time you create the book, then publish it and voila you get a return on investment (roi). If Oprah reads your book and talks about it on her show (it has happened) then your roi increases.
The limitations that exist in regards to accomplishing our goals are those that we impose upon ourselves and yet we have the power to reduce and remove those limitations.
Let's explore some common limitations and how we can begin to remove them from our lives. We will explore the 4 key areas. At Kaos Group our systems are based on the four quadrants that comprise our lives: Home, Office, Time, and Spirit.
Common limitations in our Home:
We have spent so much time procrastinating over a project that we have turned it into a monster. We can't begin to tackle the task because, really, David did slay Goliath, but there is no way in hell he could organize all the clothes in my house. We neglect to take a deep breath and think about how we could start.
One way to start is to have laundry bins in each room, ensure that there are enough hangers and enough drawer space to house everything. Maybe even put an extra bin in a common area so that clothes that need to be donated get put into it over a one month period. These ideas may seem like nothing to some but it could very well be the removal of a limitation in one person's life.
Have you ever noticed that when you are in the thick-of-things and someone makes the perfect suggestion that you are stunned because you didn't think of it yourself? Well that's someone else helping you to remove the limitations!
I have a sister who I call on when I am stumped on a logistical issue. She often has two or three solutions and one of them is always a nugget of gold. She laughs and says 'that was easy' and I get to move on with my life instead of struggling. She helps me remove barriers all the time!
